Storm warning: Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected over seven states, three FTs until 7pm


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected over seven states the the three Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan until 7pm Friday (Jan 10).

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 4.10pm Friday, it said the areas affected include Perak (Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu), Pahang (Cameron Highlands), Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan (Jelebu).

In Sarawak, the area affected is Limbang while in Sabah, affected areas include Interior (Sipatang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tembunan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belut) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan).

The Federal Territory of Labuan is also expected to be hit by thunderstorms and heavy rains.

Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon.
