Storm warning: Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected over KL, seven states until 10am


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected over seven states and the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur until 10am Tuesday (Jan 7).

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 7.30am Tuesday, it said the areas affected include Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah and Kampar), Pahang (Raub, Bentong and Temerloh), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat), the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur, and Melaka.

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa and Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh) and Miri (Subis).

Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon.
