KLUANG: A 32-year-old man was killed in a car accident at KM13 Jalan Benut–Simpang Renggam.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the police were alerted to the incident at 10pm on Saturday (Jan 4).

"Initial investigation revealed that the victim, Mohamad Afiq Talib, was heading towards Benut from Simpang Renggam," said ACP Bahrin in a statement on Sunday (Jan 5).

"Upon arriving at the location, the victim suddenly lost control of his vehicle and grazed another car in the opposite direction, driven by a 34-year-old man from Pontian," he added.

ACP Bahrin said the impact caused the victim’s car to crash on the road, while the other vehicle veered into a roadside trench.

"Mohamad Afiq suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location," he said.

"The other driver suffered injuries to his left arm and legs and is currently being treated at Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom (HEBHK), added ACP Bahrin.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
