Chief judge heads Sarawak Governor’s birthday honours list


KUCHING: Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Azizah Nawawi heads the list of recipients of state honours, awards and medals in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Saturday (Oct 10).

She was conferred the Darjah Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Also receiving the PNBS were Dewan Negara president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) pro-chancellor Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz and ABM Fujiya Berhad chairman Datuk Tay Ah Ching @ Tay Chin Kin.

A total of 1,350 individuals received state honours in conjunction with the celebration.

Meanwhile, four recipients were conferred the Darjah Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title Datuk.

The PGBK recipients were Court of Appeal Judge Dean Wayne Daly; Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Sarawak State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Idris Buang; and senior private secretary to the Sarawak Governor Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie.

Meanwhile, six individuals were conferred the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title Datu, while 23 individuals received the Darjah Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Datuk.

The honours list also included two recipients of the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS), two of the Johan Bintang Kenyalang, one of the Johan Perkhidmatan Cemerlang, 16 of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang, nine of the Pingat Perwira Negeri, 18 of the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak, 100 of the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang and 204 of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti.

A total of 71 individuals received the Ahli Bintang Sarawak, 241 were conferred the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang, 365 the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji, while 284 received the Bentara Bintang Sarawak. - Bernama
