Man nabbed over alleged corruption involving Puspakom vehicle inspections


PUTRAJAYA: A man suspected of involvement in a bribery case related to heavy vehicle inspections at the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) has been remanded on Saturday (Jan 4).

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the man, in his 40s, was detained following “a strategic collaboration between the commission and the Road Transport Department (JPJ),” reported Sinar Harian.

The suspect, who works with Puspakom in the capital, was arrested on Friday afternoon.

"The individual was handed over by JPJ to MACC on Friday afternoon and was detained after having his statement recorded at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

"MACC will apply for a remand order for the suspect at the Putrajaya Court at 9am today," it said in a statement today.

It added that the case is being investigated under Section 16(b)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
