Storm warning: Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected over KL, eight states until 6pm


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected over eight states and the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur until 6pm Friday (Jan 3).

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 3.30pm Friday, it said the areas affected include Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Raub and Bentong), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat), the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor (Tangkak Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang).

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Mukah (Mukah), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the affected areas are Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan) West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Ranau) and Tawau.

Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon.
