Body of missing police corporal found in Kampung Gajah canal


IPOH: The body of a 39-year-old police corporal, feared drowned while swimming in a water canal in Changkat Lada, Kampung Gajah, has been found.

Corporal Muhammad Taufik Sayuti, 39, from the Melaka Tengah District Police headquarters, was reportedly tired and attempting to reach land when he was swept away by the strong current.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the victim's body was discovered at 4.55am on Monday (Dec 23).

"The body was found 3m away from the Fire Control Center (PKB) and was handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 23).

On Sunday (Dec 22), it was reported that the incident occurred while the victim was swimming with friends after attending a reunion ceremony with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Changkat Lada alumni.
