Police corporal killed in Ipoh motorcycle-car crash


IPOH: A police corporal was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here Wednesday (Jan 21) afternoon.

In a statement, Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the 3.30pm incident involved Corporal Mohd Hafizan Othman, 33, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a motorcycle from his home towards his duty station at Kampung Rapat police station when the collision occurred.

The motorcycle was travelling straight along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah when a car driven by a man turned right from Jalan Lengkok Harimau in a prohibited area, causing the accident.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while his body has been sent to the Forensic Department of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
