56 foreigners among 67 nabbed in anti-vice raids in KL, Pahang

KUALA LUMPUR: Fifty-six foreign prostitutes were among 67 individuals detained in a massive operation, which saw several hotels and apartments raided in Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.

The raids, codenamed "Ops Noda", were conducted by the Bukit Aman CID anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division (D7) in Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Gombak and Genting Highlands.

During the raids, a check by The Star revealed that the foreign women resorted to various tactics to hide from the authorities, including hiding behind the bathroom sink and underneath bed covers.

Some of the women were small in size that at first glance, one would assume it was just a pillow underneath the bed covers.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said a total of 67 individuals were detained, including 56 foreign women believed to be prostitutes as well as seven local men and two local women were detained in the simultaneous raids on Friday (Dec 20).

"The foreign women were from Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.

"The locals were working as counter workers, managers (of the premises) and transporters.

"We believe all of the premises were run by the same syndicate," he said when contacted on Saturday (Dec 21).

Two other local men, who were customers, were also detained and had their statements recorded, he added.

"We also seized various items including RM11,490 cash, 279 pieces of condoms, 50 massage oil, a lubricant, and sex stimulant pills.

"The syndicate used two websites to promote their sex services in Genting Highlands and the Klang Valley using prostitutes from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Indonesia.

"Each customer is charged RM1,200 for four hours of sex service.

"Once booking is done, a customer will be instructed to go to a hotel or massage parlour to engage in sexual activities with the women of their choosing.

"They will also pay directly to either the caretaker (of the premises) or the prostitute," he said.

Two of the local men detained were the ones who managed the websites and handled customer bookings via WhatsApp and Telegram, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said.

"We also believe they were also transporters who send and fetch the prostitutes from their hostels," he added.
