Father mourns tragic loss of 12-year-old son in Serdang

KUALA LUMPUR: The 12-year-old boy who is believed to have died from an electric shock, had just led prayers at his school, says his father Mohd Fazrul Mohd Nasir, 40. Mohd Fazrul revealed that his son had volunteered to lead the Asar prayer just 30 minutes before the tragic incident that took his life.

"I would always tell him that if I were to pass away, I'd want him to lead my funeral prayer, but he has departed before me," he said, speaking at the Forensic Department of Sultan Idris Shah Hospital, Serdang, on Thursday (Dec 19).

The bereaved father said that he hadn't merely lost a son, but also a close companion who was always by his side.

Adding to the grief, Mohd Fazrul disclosed that Thursday (Dec 19) was supposed to be the day his son's Primary School Religious Assessment results were announced.

They hadn't checked the results yet, and he was overcome with sadness remembering the promise to buy his son a video game if he performed well.

The boy’s mother, Norhidayah Husin, 39, said her son was friendly, hardworking, and well-liked by his school friends, teachers, and neighbours.

The funeral prayers are set to be performed at Masjid Universiti Putra Malaysia before his remains are laid to rest at the UPM Muslim cemetery later Thursday (Dec 19). – Bernama
