'No one is above the law', says Health Minister on picture of smoker in eatery

PETALING JAYA: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad has reposted pictures of a group of people, one of whom is Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, seen smoking at an eatery.

"I hold on to the principle that no one is above the law," posted Dzulkefly on Monday (Dec 16), making a reference to the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024.

However, he did not state what action would be taken on the person seen smoking in the photograph.

Regulation 11 of the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004 stipulates that anyone found guilty of smoking at undesignated zones may be subject to fines of up to RM10,000 or up to two years' jail.

Mohamad also posted some pictures on Facebook on Sunday (Dec 15) taken at the same location, stating that he was having tea at a coffeeshop in Rantau.
