Temple in Maran closed due to floods

THE Sri Marathandavar Temple in Maran, Pahang, was again surrounded by floodwaters after two days of heavy rain, Makkal Osai reported.

Temple chairman P. Raman said the rain had caused Sungai Jerik, which is adjacent to the temple, to overflow.

This caused floods more than a metre high in the compound and the temple committee decided to close the temple due to safety concerns, he said.

The repeated flooding has been a major issue for the temple.

Maran Civil Defence Force director Captain (PA) Mohd Noor Azhar Yusof said some roads around the district are closed to light vehicles because of the flooding.

> Persatuan Kesenian Adithada Silambam Malaysia (PKASM) has been recognised with a world record for a four-hour non-stop silambam demonstration, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The record attempt was held at SJK (T) Vivekananda in Petaling Jaya with the participation of around 200 silambam exponents aged between six and 60 years old.
