70 people arrested in raid on Sitiawan entertainment centre


IPOH: A total of 70 people were arrested at an entertainment centre in Sitiawan for drug-related offences.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the raid was carried out on Friday (Dec 6) at about 3am by the Manjung police headquarters narcotics criminal investigation division and a team from Bukit Aman.

He said that of the 70, 54 tested positive for drugs and added that the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act

ACP Hasbullah added 38 of the 54 arrested were men, while 16 were women.

"Among those arrested were 13 local men and two foreigners with several types of drugs, including cannabis, Ecstasy, Erimin 5 pills, and ketamine. The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1), Section 12(2), and Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," said ACP Hasbullah.

"Following the arrests of the local men, a raid was carried out at a house in Taman Sentosa 2, and a bag with 31 plastic packets containing powdered MDMA drugs weighing 545g and more Erimin 5 pills were found, worth RM91,125," he said.

He said all those arrested have been remanded for between three and seven days.
