Thunderstorms expected over 10 states, says MetMalaysia


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected over 10 states, including Selangor, Penang, and Johor.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 3pm on Thursday (Dec 5), the affected areas include Selangor (Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor), Johor (Segamat and Mersing), and the entire state of Penang.

Other affected areas are Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, and Kampar), Kelantan (Gua Musang), Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Temerloh, Kuantan, Bera, and Pekan).

Rain is also expected in Sarawak, covering Kuching (Kuching), Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu, Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi), and Limbang.

In Sabah, the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, and Keningau) and West Coast (Papar, Putatan, and Penampang), along with Labuan, will also see rain.

The advisory is valid until 6pm.
