Khalid Samad is new Kada chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Kada chairman Khalid Samad has been appointed chairperson of the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada) from Sunday but has delayed his job for the sake of Parti Amanah Nasional Federal Territory convention.

Khalid Samad, who is the chairman of Federal Territory Amanah and a former Federal Territory Minister, was congratulated for being appointed to the post by Amanah delegates at the convention on Sunday (Dec 1).

"Khalid was supposed to start his job on Sunday, but for the sake of the convention, he had decided to postpone the date of starting his job to Monday (Dec 2)," said the emcee of the event.

Khalid will replace former Kelantan Pakatan Harapan chairperson Muhammad Husain, who has been Kada chairman since last May.

Kada is responsible for advancing the economic and social development of farmers in the Kemubu area to boost their socioeconomic status and national food production.

The Kemubu area includes Kota Baru, Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Bachok and Pasir Puteh.

Kada falls under the purview of the Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, who is also the Amanah president.
