Floods: Situation in Johor worsens with 767 displaced


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has continued to escalate, with 767 people from 219 families having been relocated to temporary relief centres (PPS).

The state disaster management committee said as of 2pm on Sunday (Dec 1), there were now 19 PPS in operation, of which 16 were opened in Segamat and three in Tangkak.

“The number of flood victims in Segamat has risen to 456 people from 121 families.

“While the number of victims in Tangkak is 311 people from 98 families,” the committee said in a statement.

The majority of the victims in Tangkak are from Kampung Parit Bengkok, with 167 people being evacuated to SK Bukit Rahmat.

In Segamat, the majority of the victims are from Kampung Padang Kiambang, with 122 people that have been relocated to Balairaya Kampung Padang Kiambang.
