Motorcyclist killed after losing control, crashing into tree


MUAR: A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road accident along Jalan Parit Unas here on Tuesday (March 31).

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the incident involved an Aveta V13R motorcycle ridden by a local man.

"Initial investigations found that the victim was travelling from Muar towards Batu Pahat when he is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle.

“The rider veered off to the left shoulder of the road and crashed into a tree,” he said in a statement.

He added that the victim sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has been sent to Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah Muar for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police have urged members of the public with information about the incident to come forward to assist in investigations by contacting the investigating officer Insp Muhamad Azim Aziz at 018-9704143 or visiting the nearest police station.

Authorities also reminded road users to adhere to traffic regulations and practise caution while driving or riding to prevent such tragedies.
