Floods: Kota Baru mechanic suffers fatal electric shock at home

KOTA BARU: A mechanic died when he was electrocuted after touching the grille gate of his flooded house in Kampung Banir Belikong here on Wednesday (Nov 27).

Tuan Mohd Zakaria Tuan Ismail, 35, was killed on the spot in the 4.30am incident.

Sinar Harian quoted his sister-in-law Siti Nur Aziana Bidin, 18, as saying that the incident was witnessed by Tuan Zakaria's nine-year-old son.

"I heard my brother-in-law shouting and falling.

"His child then called his grandmother for help," she told the daily.

Siti Nur Aziana said the strong current from the nearby river then swept the victim away and her brother Mohamad Nor Hazli Bidin, 38, went to look for him.

Tuan Zakaria's body was found at around 6am and was taken to Hospital Tengku Anis for a post-mortem, the daily reported.

Siti Nur Aziana said there was a wall socket, where their washing machine was plugged in, near the grille gate.

Pasir Puteh OCPD Supt Zaizul Rizal Zakaria confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
