Masked armed robbers snatch bag of gold in Ipoh heist

IPOH: Armed masked men robbed a gold factory operator and fled with about 3kg of gold at Jalan Bendahara here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the incident occurred on Tuesday (Nov 26) at about 9.30am.

"We received a call about the robbery in front of a gold factory at Jalan Bendahara.

"Initial information that we've received is that the suspects had fled in two vehicles, one white-coloured and the other one in gold," he said when contacted.

"The necessary actions are being taken," he added.

According to Sinar Harian, the operator, in his 50s, was said to have been robbed by six men, who were armed with knives and machetes.

The operator was also quoted to say that one of the two vehicles had rammed into the back of his car before the suspects alighted from the vehicles and snatched a bag containing the gold.
