PETALING JAYA: A senior lecturer from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Dr Chee Ken Nee, has been named a winner at the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) Awards 2024 for his innovative project, the Virtual Reality Teaching Training (VIRTT).

His project, the VIRTT, stood out for its approach to teacher training, utilising virtual reality technology to create immersive and interactive classroom simulations.

This innovative platform allows pre-service teachers to hone their teaching skills in a safe, controlled environment, preparing them to face real-world challenges with confidence and expertise.

Chee’s contribution to Innovation in Education placed him among the world’s leading educators, innovators, and thought leaders.

“This recognition is a testament to the power of innovation in transforming education.

“I am incredibly grateful to my colleagues, students, and supporters who have been instrumental in the success of VIRTT. Together, we are shaping the future of learning,” he said in a press release.

The GESS Education Awards, organised by the UK-based Informa Connect, are internationally renowned for celebrating outstanding achievements in the education sector.

The 2024 edition brought together over 350 educators and industry leaders from around the world to honour individuals and organisations driving progress through creativity, dedication, and innovation.
