Military officer in fatal drink-driving case to be charged on April 30


KUALA LUMPUR: The military officer who allegedly caused the death of a Bangladeshi content creator after driving under the influence of alcohol will be charged in court on Thursday (April 30).

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed the matter when contacted.

“The suspect will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow (April 30),” he said.

He added that the suspect will be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 44 (1A)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

On April 23, a fatal crash killed one and injured two more after the officer, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, drove against traffic and collided with a car along the Maju Expressway (MEX).
