KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled three Klang Valley drug syndicates following a series of raids that yielded RM2.1mil worth of illicit drugs, says Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus.
The Kuala Lumpur police chief said nine operations were conducted between Oct 19 and 22 at several locations, including Cheras, Brickfields, Dang Wangi and Ampang.
“We arrested 23 suspects – comprising 16 local men, one local woman, three foreign men, and three foreign women aged between 21 and 40,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters yesterday.
Among the items seized were 966 packets and 401 bottles of suspected MDMA, alongside quantities of ketamine, Erimin 5 pills and Ecstasy.
Investigations revealed that six local suspects had previous criminal or drug-related records.
He added that five foreign suspects had entered the country using social visit passes, while another did not possess valid travel documents.
The syndicates are believed to have used condominiums as storage and distribution centres, including premises with multiple layers of security.
Fadil said the drug supply was believed to have originated from abroad before repackaging locally.
He said the syndicates allegedly spiked beverage bottles with drugs, retailing them alongside individual packets for RM200 to RM300 each at nightspots and private parties.
“Each packet of drugs is also believed to be sold for between RM200 and RM300.
“The drugs were allegedly distributed to end users through various channels,” he said.
