Police probe late-night fireworks barrage in Setia Alam

SHAH ALAM: A police investigation has been opened after a video captured dozens of fireworks being launched after midnight as part of an outdoor photoshoot.

In a statement on Wednesday (April 29), Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the footage showed around 50 to 100 fireworks being fired as part of a photoshoot.

The video was believed to have been shot in the wee hours of the morning, disrupting residents in the area.

“The video showed that the first incident occurred on April 26 at around 1.05am, when the fireworks were ignited in three consecutive rounds.

“A similar incident occurred on April 27 at approximately 2.11am,” said Asst Comm Ramsay.

A police report on the matter was subsequently lodged on April 29.

“Investigations showed that the incident took place in a public parking area along the Setia Alam Community Trail.

“Efforts to track down and arrest the suspects are ongoing,” he added.
