'Back to school, pray for me', says Tunku Azizah


PETALING JAYA: The Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, shared the happy news that she is now a student again at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

In a Sinar Harian report, the announcement was made via her official TikTok account @cmspahang on Sunday (Nov 17).

In the post, she shared a picture of herself holding a student card with the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation logo.

“Back to school, pray for me,” she wrote in the caption.

The news also caught the attention of TikTok users, many of whom expressed their hopes of meeting her in person.

"Tuanku, congratulations on becoming a student at IIUM. I hope we can meet in one of the lectures, amin," commented Dilla J.

"Don't be late for your assignments, Tuanku," joked Famin.

Meanwhile, IIUM also shared Tunku Azizah’s post about the news on their Facebook page.

Previously, it was reported that she had been reappointed as the Chancellor of IIUM for a five-year term starting from Jan 31 this year. Her reappointment was approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah (at the time).

This marks her second term in the position, having been appointed for her first term in 2019.

Recently, Tunku Azizah was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Creative Arts from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) for her contribution to empowering and upholding the arts and cultural heritage internationally.

The award was presented by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, during the 100th UiTM Convocation Ceremony at the Tuanku Chancellor Hall, UiTM’s main campus in Shah Alam, Selangor, on Wednesday (Nov 13).
