Police nab three after 135km car chase from Selangor to Melaka


ALOR GAJAH: Three individuals led policemen on a 135km car chase from the Serdang Rest and Service (R&R) area in Selangor to the Sungai Petai traffic light junction here on Wednesday (April 29).

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred around 8pm after a patrol team from the Serdang police headquarters ordered a black car to stop.

"However, the driver refused to cooperate and sped off and was pursued all the way to Melaka.

"Upon reaching the Sungai Petai traffic light junction, the suspect's vehicle went out of control and collided with a pick-up truck," he said in a statement on Friday (May 1).

He said a 41-year-old woman was driving the vehicle with two other men aged 23 and 43in the vehicle.

He said an inspection uncovered a packet of heroin weighing 2.16g and another with weighing 0.65g.

He added that all three suspects have criminal records.

"Checks found that one male suspects has a record of 24 crimes, another has eight and the woman has a record of two drug offences," he said.

Supt Ahmad added that two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and another for morphine.

All three suspects have been remanded for four days until May 3 under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
