Opinion of Negri Umno wings not a party stand, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: The opinion of Negri Sembilan Umno wings stating a loss of confidence in the state administration is not a party stand, says party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"That is their own statement. The position taken by Umno state assemblymen (to remain with the unity government) is a party decision and that has to be respected," he said after the Bumiputra Education Congress held in conjunction with Umno's 80th anniversary at the World Trade Centre on Friday (May 1).

Earlier on Friday, the Negri Sembilan Umno's Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings said that the state government's decision to order Sungei Ujong Undang Datuk Mubarak Dohak to vacate his official residence was a sign of the administration's failure to handle the royal crisis.

On Thursday (April 30), Ahmad Zahid said all 14 Negri Sembilan assemblymen who withdrew their support for Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun have agreed to remain within the framework of the unity government in the state.

He said this was decided in his meeting with the 14 assemblymen on Thursday.
