Cops hunting suspect in hit-and-run that killed cyclist


KUCHING: A male cyclist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident along Jalan Stutong early on Friday (May 1).

Kuching OCPD Asst Comm Alexson Naga Chabu said they received a report about the incident at about 5.43am.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the man, 56, was cycling when he was hit from behind by a vehicle of an unidentified registration and model.

"He suffered severe injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.30am by a Sarawak Hospital medical officer," he said in a statement.

The police are tracking down the suspect in the hit-and-run incident, he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
