Let MACC probe corruption allegations, says Sindumin assemblyman

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should probe the recent allegations of corruption involving him, says Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob

He said that some parties might be exploiting the widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology by associating him with the issue.

"Let them spread it; now with AI, this is a problem. No need to deny, just say let the MACC investigate if there is a case. The more we respond, the more it grows. Now, anything is possible with AI," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Monday (Nov 11).

The Qhazanah Sabah Berhad chairman then said he is ready to cooperate with the MACC if certain parties have evidence against him.

"Yes, any time, I have no problem, I'll cooperate, yes I'll come," he said.

"We need to clarify this matter. Now we have many enemies of all kinds. That's why we must be cautious during this season; people can do anything," he added.

Dr Yusof did not dismiss the possibility that it is part of an agenda by enemies to bring him down, especially with the upcoming state election.

"Yes, it's usual; if we are strong and stable, people will do all sorts of things to us, our enemies. In politics, we have many enemies that we don't know who they are," he added.

Previously, a 17-second video uploaded by a portal allegedly captured a voice conversation involving a Sabah assemblyman and a contractor regarding corrupt activities.

The assemblyman's voice is alleged to be Dr Yusof's, but there is no confirmation about it yet.

A news portal recently revealed eight video recordings linking several assemblymen allegedly discussing bribes worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit up to RM4mil in return for securing projects in a state.
