Student dies after fall from school’s fourth floor in Negri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: A 16-year-old student died after he was believed to have fallen from the fourth floor of a block at a secondary school here.

The male student died on the spot in the 6am incident.

It could not be immediately established how the incident happened. Reporters were also barred from entering the school grounds.

A police vehicle carrying the student's remains was seen leaving the school premises around 10am on Thursday (Nov 7).

His remains were taken to the hospital for postmortem.

The school, in a statement to all parents, staff and students said it had immediately called for an ambulance following the incident.

However, medical personnel who arrived a short while later declared the student dead.

It said police have started a probe into the case and the school would extend its fullest cooperation on the matter.

Counsellors would also provide counselling to all students to help them cope with the incident.

"The school regrets the incident and we extend our condolences to the family of the deceased.

"We will assist the family in any way we can till investigations are completed," it said.

When contacted, Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police have received an initial report from the school on the matter.

He said a post-mortem would be conducted on the victim's remains to establish the cause of death.
