SHAH ALAM: The investigation into an incident involving a roller coaster at a water theme park in Subang Jaya recently is expected to take three to four months to complete.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the investigation involved multiple parties and technical aspects at the scene.
“We expect that, at the earliest, it will take a minimum of three to four months to complete the investigation.
“This is because it involves cooperation with the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH), Fire and Rescue Department, forensic teams and several other agencies,” he said at a press conference here on Monday (Sept 7).
Comm Shazeli said police had also recorded statements from various parties to assist in the investigation.
“A large number of statements have been recorded, involving theme park staff, roller coaster operators, injured and uninjured victims.
“This also includes medical officers from the medical centre who provided treatment.
“More statements will be recorded to assist the investigation, particularly from the technical aspects,” he said.
On Aug 22, 10 individuals were reported to have suffered minor injuries in a roller coaster incident at the water theme park.
The police investigation is focused on determining whether there were elements of negligence or sabotage.
In a separate case, Comm Shazeli said investigations into an attempted robbery at a goldsmith shop along Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang, on Aug 20 are still ongoing.
He said police had obtained positive leads and follow-up action was being taken.
“The investigation is still ongoing. We have obtained positive leads and follow-up action is being taken. If there is a breakthrough, we will share it,” he said.
The incident, which occurred at about 10.30am, went viral after a video showed two helmeted men attempting to smash a glass jewellery display cabinet, believed to be using hammers.
Two other men were believed to have been waiting outside the premises on motorcycles before all four suspects fled the scene shortly afterwards.
