Missing RM1mil in Ampang found, say Selangor cops

PETALING JAYA: The RM1mil that went missing from a shopping complex in Ampang has been found.

It was recovered the same day it was reported missing, Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam told a press conference here on Thursday (Nov 7).

“It wasn’t that long (after) the incident... we received word that the money had been found.

“Statements are still being taken to complete investigations because a police report was lodged,” she said.

The money bag was found along Jalan Hulu Kelang heading towards the Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh)

It is believed that the bag containing the money fell out of the security company van while it was making a turn.

On Wednesday (Nov 6), Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said a police report was lodged by the security company following the collection process at a bank at the shopping complex at 3.55pm.

It is learnt that the money bag was found to be missing after the van driver realised the vehicle door was open.

In a statement, ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the security guard and one woman were arrested on Wednesday.

He added that the arrests were to facilitate investigations.

“We also confirm that a report on the discovery of the missing money bag was lodged at 9.20am Thursday.

“The bag was found near Ampang point,” he said.
