Sorry not enough to make up for RM43.9mil loss, says Perikatan MP

KUALA LUMPUR: The apology from FashionValet co-founders Datin Vivy Yusof and Datuk Fadzaruddin Shah Anuar will not make up for the RM43.9mil loss suffered by government-linked investment companies, says a Perikatan Nasional MP.

"There's a running joke on social media that this is a season for apologies," said Mas Ermieyati (PN-Masjid Tanah) during the debates on the Supply Bill 2025 in Parliament on Monday (Nov 4).

"Is an apology enough after the losses Khazanah and PNB had to deal with? They have disappointed many of their followers," she said.

Mas Ermieyati also criticised the Finance Ministry for saying that the losses are minimal compared to the earnings made by Khazanah and PNB.

"The losses could have been used to help thousands of youth to develop businesses," she said.

On Oct 29, the Finance Ministry said that Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Permodalan Nasional Bhd had sold their collective stakes in FashionValet for RM3.1mil after their initial RM47mil investment – a loss of RM43.9mil.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said that it was investigating the matter.
