Police hunting gunman after shooting in Sibu


SIBU: A man has been shot by an unidentified gunman while waiting to pick up his son from school at Jalan Wong King Hoe on Thursday (Oct 24).

The 46-year-old victim was rushed to emergency care for a wound on his right shoulder at a private medical centre after getting shot at about 2.30pm.

Sibu OCPD, Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili has confirmed that police was hunting the suspect in an investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempt to murder.

Police said that the victim was in the driver's seat when the armed suspect approached the vehicle without warning from the right side and shot him before fleeing.

A single bullet hole is seen on the front windshield of the victim’s vehicle.

After firing a single shot, the gunman fled, and the victim opened the car door to call for help.

He collapsed in the bushes by the side of the road moments later.
