Father of Malaysian Islamic Banking, Abdul Halim Ismail passes away


KUALA LUMPUR: The father of Malaysian Islamic banking, Datuk Dr Abdul Halim Ismail, passed away on Sunday (Oct 20) morning.

The news was confirmed through a post on Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd's official Facebook, stating that Abdul Halim was the first managing director of Bank Islam, a visionary leader who had built the foundation of Islamic finance in Malaysia.

The bank said Abdul Halim's dedication and pioneering spirit had played an important role in shaping Bank Islam's journey and left a lasting impact on the development of Malaysia's Islamic finance industry.
