Budget 2025: RM20mil for National Scam Response Centre


KUALA LUMPUR: RM20mil has been allocated for the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the sum was needed to elevate the role of the NSRC in curbing and preventing scam cases.

"Some RM380mil in suspicious transactions were successfully blocked in curbing scam cases in Malaysia.

"It is only right that we strengthen the role of the NSRC," he said in tabling Budget 2025 on Friday (Oct 18).

The National Fraud Portal was also introduced in the war against online scams, he added.

"This portal enables easier detection of automatic suspicious transactions.

"Act 574 of the Penal Code and Act 593 of the Criminal Procedure Code have also been amended to ensure more effective actions are taken by enforcement agencies to curb mule account syndicates this year," he said.
