Budget 2025 raises the ceiling for Malaysia’s competitiveness to entice investors, says Amir Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR: Budget 2025 will raise the ceiling for Malaysia to improve its competitiveness and make the nation more attractive to investors, says Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

"It is an encouraging budget which will help propel the nation forward based on the Madani Economic Framework.”

"The framework is crucial in raising the ceiling with regards to Malaysia's competitiveness to attract investors aimed at boosting the economy," he told a press conference in Parliament after the tabling of Budget 2024 on Friday (Oct 18).

He added that the measures announced under the budget would open new growth engines by getting more government agencies and government-linked investment companies (GLICs) involved.

"This will mean that more people will be involved in boosting the nation's economy," he added.

Besides the economy, Amir Hazmah said that the budget also addressed fiscal reforms that would benefit the rakyat.

"These reforms will ensure that only those who truly need help are provided assistance," he said.

Among the measures, he added, were addressing the cost of living including raising wages of workers in specific sectors.
