KUWAIT CITY, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait recorded an actual budget deficit of 7.1 billion Kuwaiti dinars (around 23.1 billion U.S. dollars) in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, marking a 13.2-percent increase from the previous fiscal year, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.
The actual government revenues totaled about 16.5 billion dinars in the same period, while actual expenditures reached 23.6 billion dinars, according to the ministry's final fiscal accounts.
The ministry did not elaborate on the reasons behind the widening deficit.
Kuwait's economy remains heavily dependent on oil revenues, leaving public finances sensitive to fluctuations in global crude prices.
The Gulf country has in recent years pursued fiscal and economic reforms aimed at diversifying revenue sources and enhancing the sustainability of its public finances.
