More flash flood victims in Perak after nonstop rain


IPOH: The number of flash flood victims in Perak has increased overnight following several hours of continuous rainfall.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat, there were now 760 victims from 243 families as of 12pm on Monday (Oct 14), compared to 405 victims from 117 families on Sunday (Oct 13) at 10pm.

The victims are from Kuala Kangsar (332), Muallim (158), Hulu Perak (172) and Kerian (111).

Among the areas inundated were Kampung Beriai (Kerian); Kampung Air Panas, Kampung Malau, Kampung Kerunai, (Hulu Perak); Kampung Lasah, Kampung Chenein, Kampung Ara, (Kuala Kangsar) and Kampung Kuala Slim, Taman Slim Permai (Muallim).

A total of 14 temporary shelters have been opened in the respective districts.
