Those interested in the motorcycle licence upgrade can register at 139 institutes, says JPJ

PUTRAJAYA: Holders of motorcycle licence Class B1/B2 who are eligible to take part in the Special Transition Programme and upgrade to Class B licence can start registering at the 139 driving institutes across the country, says the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

According to Sinar Harian, its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the list of driving institutes offering the programme can be accessed by scanning the QR code displayed on the official JPJ Facebook page.

"For your information, the list of driving institutes will also be updated from time to time," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 4).

He said as of Thursday (Oct 3), 3.33 million out of 9.32 million Class B1 and B2 LMM holders are eligible to register for the programme.

Among the driving institutes are Metro Driving Academy Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam, Selangor; Ilmu Baru Sdn Bhd in Alor Setar, Kedah; Pusat Latihan Memandu Gabungan Usahamaju Sdn Bhd in Seberang Perai, Penang; Institut Memandu Litar Sistem Adilkap Sdn Bhd in Ipoh, Perak; Sipitang Sdn Bhd in Sipitang, Sabah; and Akademi Memandu EG Sdn Bhd in Miri, Sarawak.

Motorcyclists can check if they are eligible for the programme which has been set at RM160 through the MyJPJ app, the mySIKAP public portal (https://public.jpj.gov.my), or at JPJ counters.

The B2 licence allows holders to ride motorcycles only up to 250cc while motorcycles 500cc and above require the rider to hold the higher B licence.
