Rina Harun decides not to defend Bersatu Srikandi chief post, Mas Ermieyati is sole candidate

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Rina Harun has decided not to defend her position as the Srikandi chief in the upcoming 2024-2027 Bersatu party elections, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.

Bersatu's party election committee deputy chairman Saiful Adli Arshad announced that the former Titiwangsa MP had initially submitted her nomination but had now withdrawn her candidacy.

Saiful confirmed that only one candidate is now eligible to contest for the position: Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin from the Masjid Tanah division.

"I can confirm that Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun submitted her nomination form but later submitted a withdrawal form," Saiful told Sinar Harian at a press conference at the Bersatu party election headquarters on Friday (Oct 4).

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was also present at the press conference.

When asked about Rina's reasons for withdrawing, Ahmad Faizal suggested that the media should directly seek clarification from her.

During the announcement, it was also confirmed that only one nomination was received for the position of president, filled by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Pagoh), and for the position of deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (Larut).
