Sanusi expresses gratitude to Selangor Ruler for accepting apology

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has expressed his gratitude to the Selangor Sultan for accepting his apology.

The Kedah Mentri Besar said he would also resolve to adhere to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's advice to maintain decorum and civility and not use inappropriate language when addressing the public, especially in Selangor.

"May the forgiving nature and kindness of His Royal Highness lead to greater good and enhance the sovereignty of Sultan Sharafuddin’s rule, and may the state of Selangor continue to be blessed and graced by Allah SWT," he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 27).

On Thursday, the Sultan of Selangor said Sanusi’s apology was considered and accepted in the name of the Muslim spirit of brotherhood.

“I do not want Muslims to be at odds with one another and we, as Muslims, must always forgive if there is sincerity in asking for forgiveness,” read a letter posted via the Selangor Royal Office.

Sanusi issued a public apology on Wednesday (Sept 25) over his remarks during the state election campaign in Selayang in July last year.

He got into hot water after allegedly belittling the Sultan of Selangor for having appointed Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari as Mentri Besar.
