Man shot dead after resisting arrest in Rawang


GOMBAK: A man linked to more than two dozen criminal cases that included theft, was shot dead while attempting to evade arrest.

A team of policemen from the Kota Damansara police station's crime prevention team attempted to detain the 37-year-old suspect at about 3am Wednesday (Sept 25) in connection with a house break-in case.

The suspect was then in a MPV.

A high-speed chase ensued and at Bandar Baru Kundang, Rawang, the suspect reversed his vehicle and attempted to hit the police vehicle, forcing the police to fire at him.

The suspect's vehicle swerved at the side of the road before the suspect succumbed to his injuries.

It was learnt that the suspect was linked to 26 cases in Selangor, Johor and Kuala Lumpur.

The police also seized various weapons, including two pistols with bullets, three machetes, an axe, and a cutter.

The suspect's body was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem.

It was learnt that Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan will issue a statement on the incident soon. ends
