The Kuala Kedah-Langkawi ferry will operate again on Sept 22

ALOR SETAR: The ferry service to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah will resume operations on Sept 22 after being halted for several days due to storms, strong winds, and rough seas.

Nine trips were planned, five from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah and four from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi. However, it depends on the weather and wind conditions at sea.

"We are planning five trips from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah tomorrow (Sept 22) starting at 10.30 am, 12pm, 1.30 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm.

"While for the trip from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi, four trips are scheduled at 1.30pm, 3pm, 4.30pm and 6pm," said Konsortium Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd general manager, Captain Baharin Baharom, when contacted by Astro AWANI, on Saturday (Sept 21).

Since last Tuesday (Sept 19), all ferry trips to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah have been cancelled due to rough seas and strong winds.

Following a warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the authorities decided to close the Kuala Kedah Passenger Ferry Terminal until Saturday (Sept 21). Travel to Langkawi is only possible from Kuala Perlis.

Baharin also said that online tickets are available for purchase.
