Star Media Group honours long-serving employees at 53rd anniversary


PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group (SMG) celebrated its 53th year as an influential media powerhouse on Monday (Sept 9).

SMG chairman Tan Sri Wong Foon Meng said that this milestone shows the group's enduring commitment to media excellence, innovation and dedication to the people.

He also highlighted some of SMG’s pivotal achievements, including the launch of Asia's first ESG Positive Impact Consortium, and a two-week Malaysia-China 50th Anniversary Photo Exhibition.

The Star, he adds, continues to be a leading English-language news outlet in the country.

During the anniversary celebrations, SMG also rewarded employees who had worked for 15 and 25 years with the group.

One of the 15-year long service award recipients, Penang bureau client brand marketing general manager Simone Liong said innovative projects by the company kept her work fresh.

“We spearhead many projects, and it makes the job exciting. Over the years, my roles have also changed a lot,” she said.

She added that good teamwork and culture at the company motivated her.

The voice behind news and traffic announcements at Suria FM, Mohamad Naim Hashim, was another 15-year long service award recipient.

“This marks a new beginning for me to push forward,” said the news and traffic assistant manager.

He said that the role gave him many opportunities to create connections in the entertainment industry and work with well-known brands.
