IPOH: Nga Kor Ming has retained his position as Perak DAP chairman as the entire state party leadership won uncontested.
Nga, who is also the party's national vice chairman, said this was the first time in 58 years in Perak DAP's history that all candidates presented by the state leadership committee won uncontested.
"I thank all members for their support and encouragement. We have a bigger responsibility and trust, and we need to work as a team to become stronger," he told reporters after the Perak DAP Convention held here on Sunday (Sept 8).
The convention was launched by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.
Nga, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, Teluk Intan MP and Kepayang assemblyman, has been the Perak DAP chairman for 11 years.
"This is a huge responsibility and we will carry out our duties diligently. We will uphold the 3B principles of berkhidmat (to serve), berbakti (dedication) and berjasa (to contribute).
"Together with the coalition in Pakatan Harapan under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, we pledged to rebuild the nation so that Malaysia is respected in the eyes of the world.
"What is more important is to help the people, and we will fulfill this trust and responsibility," he said.
