“I do not care what the foreign media says...We must save our country from those who sabotage unity,” he said at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Friday (Aug 30).

We will use whatever strength and power we have and willing to amend laws to keep this country safe,” he added.

“The country is on the right track and has the potential to excel,” he said.

He said the Madani leadership will be stern against wrongdoing and uphold the law.

He said the culture of greed and misuse of power will not be tolerated.

“We want to put a stop to such culture,” he said.

“To instil a new culture, the leadership must be more responsible and are not allowed to rob the country of its wealth and abuse power,” he added.

“What is the meaning of Merdeka (freedom)? Every year, they wave our precious flag and say Merdeka, but they are corrupt. That is because the system has permitted it.”

“So we must learn from history,” he said.

He added those who are not aware of history are blind and will pave the way for corruption.

“Once we reach dire straits, it would not be easy for us to rise again,” he said.

He reminded Malaysians that Independence was possible due to unity.

He said a country is great because of its people. For a country to be great, its people must be united.
