Three nabbed in KL raids on counterfeit money ring

KUALA LUMPUR: Three Cameroonian men have been arrested in the city during operations against a currency counterfeiting operation.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the arrests were made after two raids in the city on Aug 15.

The suspects, aged 36 to 49, are believed to be the ringleaders of the operation, he told a press conference at CCID headquarters here on Wednesday (Aug 28).

Nine bundles of fake RM100 notes were among the counterfeit currency seized in the raids, he added.

Comm Ramli said one of the three suspects entered the country on July 28, while there were no travel records for the other two suspects.

“The syndicate has been active in the production of counterfeit notes since July," he added.
