Mohd Zuki appointed as new EPF chairman

PETALING JAYA: Former chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali (pic) has been appointed as the new Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chairman effective Sept 1.

Mohd Zuki will succeed Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir, who has held the EPF chairman post since May 1, 2020, according to the EPF Board.

“The EPF Board extends its heartfelt appreciation to Tan Sri Ahmad Badri for his exemplary leadership and significant contributions, which have positioned the EPF for sustained excellence.

“At the same time, the board would like to welcome and congratulate Tan Sri Mohd Zuki, whose extensive experience in the government sector and strategic direction will continue to drive the EPF to greater heights,” said the pension fund in a statement yesterday.

“The EPF will continue to play an important role in safeguarding the financial wellbeing and retirement savings of members to build a better retirement future.”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was earlier reported as saying that Mohd Zuki would be given another important assignment to assist the government without giving details.

On Aug 13, the EPF posted a total distributable income of RM36.70bil for the six months ending June 30, 2024.

This was a 29% increase from RM28.40bil in the corresponding period in 2023.

The EPF’s total distributable income for the second quarter after write-downs was RM17.50bil, up 25% from RM13.98bil in the same period last year.
