Transport Minister wants My50 travel pass continued in Budget 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: The RM50 unlimited monthly travel pass, My50, for rail and buses in the Klang Valley, is among the initiatives and projects that Anthony Loke hopes will be continued in the upcoming Budget 2025.

The Transport Minister said this when asked about his expectations for the Budget, which is due to be tabled in October at the Dewan Rakyat.

“The government has been giving priority to the public transport system and we have seen an increase in allocation through the My50 travel pass, which was increased from RM100mil to RM200mil last year.

"We hope that such initiatives will be continued next year to ease Klang Valley commuters with an affordable public transport system to ease congestion,” he said at a press conference after witnessing the agreement signing between MRT Corporation and Coronade Properties here on Tuesday (Aug 20).

Loke said the My50 has reached more than 200,000 users a month, while rail commuters in the Klang Valley have reached more than 900,000 users daily.

“We know that the Klang Valley faces major traffic congestion therefore, there is a need to continue our efforts to improve the public transport system so more residents can utilise it.

"I hope the initiatives and projects we have requested will be considered by the Finance Ministry,” he added.
