32 new Tamil books to hit Selangor library shelves

TAMIL books by 32 local authors will be included in the Selangor public library system this year thanks to the efforts of the Super Mind Dynamic Institute, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Institute coordinator M. Ganesan said they have been working with the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) for the past 12 years to make works by local Tamil writers available in libraries.

So far, about 60,000 Tamil books have been made available for readers and this year a further 1,056 books will be added.

A collection of short stories by local writer Seeladass, poetry by Ilanthamizhan, a biography of writer and journalist Ilaiya Tamilavel Aathi Kumanan and the Tamil edition of Prison to Palace chronicling Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s life journey are among the selected works chosen by the PPAS.

The authors or publishers must submit 35 copies of their works to PPAS by the end of the month.

The above articles are compiled from the vernacular newspapers (Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil dailies). As such, stories are grouped according to the respective language/medium. Where a paragraph begins with a >, it denotes a separate news item.
